Q

How is the pathophysiology of IPF different to that of other ILD?

Q

Management of IPF?

A

pulmonary rehabilitation

drugs for symptom control, such as drugs for gastro-oesophageal reflux, opioids for dyspnoea and short courses of corticosteroids for acute exacerbations

long-term oxygen therapy for patients with resting hypoxaemia; although oxygen may not improve symptoms.

Early lung transplant

Anti fibrotic agents – have shown to reduce the decline in LFT over 12 months
