Interpretivism Flashcards

Q

Type of interpretivism - Interactionists

A
  • Believe we have casual explanations but no need for a hypothesis before research.
  • By stating an hypothesis at the start of the study, Glaser and Strauss argue that researches ruin the risk of imposing their own views, in on the data, rather than those of the actors being researched - instead should be grounded theory, meaning ideas emerge, as data is collected, which later can be used to produce a testable hypothesis.
EVAL - Ignore positivist view that we should have a definite hypothesis before we start our research.
