What is Interpretivism?
Also called anti-positivism, it links back to the belief reality is subjective
Who pioneered interpretivism?
Max Weber
How do researchers look at interpretivism?
Looking at individuals/small groups through a method called ethnography
What is ethnography?
A qualitative study run through interviews and observations and drawing subjective conclusions
What is the point of interpretive research?
It is used to try and understand how and why society world the way it does
The idea of meanings and experiences
The idea that social interactions will have different meanings to different people, there is no single fact behind an interaction, rather a series of different interpretations
Empathy
Using ones imagination to understand what someone is thinking and feeling
Rapport
A relationship that is based in trust, intimacy and easy communication
