Interphase Flashcards
What is the simple definition of Interphase?
the time between cell divisions that accounts for the longest stage of a cell’s life.
What is the G1 phase of Interphase?
a period when the cell grows, carries out normal cell functions, and prepares to replicate DNA.
What is the S phase of Interphase?
a period in which a cell copies it’s DNA.
What is the G2 phase of Interphase?
a period in which the cell prepares for the division of the nucleus.
What happens during G2 phase of Interphase?
proteins that make microtubules for are made.
What happens in the S phase of Interphase?
DNA condenses and tightly coils into a structure called a chromosome. Chromatin is the relaxed form (not coiled) of DNA in the cell’s nucleus.
