Internet of Things Flashcards
What is an underlying technology used in IoT
Machine-to-Machine communications (M2M)
What is “NFC”
Near-Field-Communication. NFC is a set of communication protocols that enable two electronic devices, one of which is usually a portable device, e.g., smartphone, to establish communication by bringing them within a very close distance usually four centimeters or less of each other. If one of these devices has internet connectivity, then the other can exchange data with online services, e.g., contact less payment systems (CTLS - Contact less). Keycards - Identification etc.
What is Ubiquitous Computing?
Concept of enabling computing anytime and everywhere. Computing on any device, any location, any format.
What is AMI
AMI - Ambient Intelligence. Ubiquitous computing, combined with ubiquitous communication and intelligent interfaces creates AMI. Creation of a fully digital environment around us.
What is IoT becoming more main-stream at present
- One is a decrease in hardware cost itself, with processing power,
memory and storage prices going down,
we will have more and more technology available for us at a cheaper cost. - Combining the convergence of I.T with operational technologies really changes how companies think about the business processes and having all this data now, combining it with big data analytics, cloud computing capabilities, allows organizations to make much more sense out of the data and turn it into customer engagement environments.
- More and more devices now are out in our life.
So, we call it increased device proliferation. - Networking costs have decreased
tremendously over the last decade and likely will keep decreasing. So it’s much easier for the devices to stay always on, always connected. - And the business opportunity of IoT as we mentioned earlier, of course raises the willingness to invest both from global companies, as well as venture capitalists and agents into this new space and bringing technologies and business models to the market.
What is a Customer Journey?
- Marketing Funnel
- Or, How potential customers moves from touch point to touch point through the engagement process including advertisement, sales, wholesale services and referrals to a friend.
What are the 6 generic customer journey steps?
- Awareness through messaging, reward and information such as creating promotions and
even employment opportunities - Leading to consideration and evaluation, through information such as notification, surveys, questions ons and content required to push out.
- Leading to purchase could be through a mobile payment and conversation,an employment inquiry or an in-store purchase itself.
- Then the client gets their product and services experience. Also here through IoT we can enhance and synergistically with the other customer journey
steps how that experience is unfolding for the client and customer. - Support is a next important step to consider on
the customer journey through service like responses of inquiries and proactive outreach. - We can again transform how our customers think about us and our companies and then
impact last but not least loyalty through the usage of products, services, support and the whole experience to create more upsell, more opportunities that we can again measure in dollars and cents in real revenue.
