A gateway address is the address of the closest router. All local traffic is not routed through the gateway. Any traffic not on the local subnet will pass through the gateway. used to route non-local traffic

What’s a DNS (Domain Name System) address used for?
A DNS (Domain Name System) address is used to translate domain names into IP addresses. If resources can only be contacted by IP, name resolution is not working. The DNS server addresses being used should be checked.
