A system in which information can be expressed by combinations of the digits 0 and 1.
Binary system
A measure of how quickly a computer can process data or instructions.
High-speed processing
A calculation that tells how far and in what direction an object would travel if it continued in the way it was going for one second (not sur e if this is right).
Instantaneous calculations
A protocol, or set of rules, for routing and addressing packets of data so that they can travel across networks and arrive at the correct destination
Internet Protocol (I.P.)
What connects one user to another across networks.
Cellular signal
Contains anywhere from a few to hundreds of optical fibers within a plastic casing. Also known as optic cables or optical fiber cables, they transfer data signals in the form of light and travel hundreds of miles significantly faster than those used in traditional electrical cables.
Fiber Optic Lines
Messages distributed by electronic means from one computer user to one or more recipients via a network.
To send emails to groups of people without having to enter each recipient’s individual address.
Distribution list
A forum on the Usenet service for the discussion of a particular topic.
Newsgroup
Commercial transactions conducted electronically on the internet.
E-commerce
A vast network that connects computers all over the world.
Internet
Is nothing more than the address of a given unique resource on the Web.
URL stands for Uniform Resource Locator
A company that provides access to the internet.
ISP (Internet Service Provider)
