Internationalism
when different countries or nations work together to promote similar causes or interests
Bilateralism
the conduct of political, economic, or cultural relations between two sovereign states
Unilateralism
any doctrine or agenda that supports one-sided action. A country working without the input of other nations
Isolationism
national policy of avoiding political or economic entanglements with other countries
Multinationalism
Several countries working together
Supranationalism
When nations work together, giving up sovereignty to abide by the ideals of an international organizations
Ex. European union
Foreign policy
a government’s strategy in dealing with other nations.
United Nations
intergovernmental organization whose stated purposes are to maintain international peace and security, develop friendly relations among nations, achieve international cooperation, and serve as a centre for harmonizing the actions of nations.
European nations
supranational political and economic union of 27 member states that are located primarily in Europe.
NATO
North Atlantic Treaty Organization, also called the North Atlantic Alliance, is an intergovernmental military alliance
National identity
person’s identity or sense of belonging to one or more states or one or more nations
Pluralism
Pluralism as a political philosophy is the diversity within a political body, which is seen to permit the peaceful coexistence of different interests, convictions, and lifestyles
Separatism
the advocacy or practice of separation of a certain group of people from a larger body on the basis of ethnicity, religion, or gender
Confederation
any league or union of people or bodies of people.
