What did the “Big Three” want?

A

Clemenceau wanted revenge and punishment - “make Germany pay”

Woodrow Wilson wanted a world “safe for democracy”.

Lloyd George said he wanted to make Germany pay, but also wanted to protect the British Empire.

What happened in the Anschluss crisis?

A

The Anschluss (the annexation of Austria into Nazi Germany in 1938) was welcomed by many Austrians; they believe that Germany would rescue the county from high unemployment and poverty. But the Nazis also brought with them laws that discriminated against Austria’s Jewish population.
