A

-more than 98% of Mexican emigrants reside in USA (>10.9 mil)
-58% ages >15
-Don’t have access to higher education so have low paid jobs : construction work, waiter
-Low income : $5000-15000/year
-Only 10% work in management , professional jobs
-Concentrated in Western and Southern states : 58% live in California
-Majority is young males
-Legal : seasonal workers often move for temporary construction jobs : fruit picking in San Joaquin Valley
-Illegal : settle more permanently, 2 mil of illegal migrants/year and 1 mil are arrested/die

Explain the impacts of international migration on Mexico

A

-better living standards : $40 billions of remittance in 2020 ->afford better lifestyle -> more education for their children

-HOWEVER : dependent pop. especially in rural areas as migrants are eco. active (58% of emigrants are >15)
-shortage of workers and rely heavily on remittances

Explain the impact of international migration stream on USA

A

-cheap and plentiful source of workforce willing to do manual jobs that require high physical strength
-save a lot of money and can invest in the infrastructure
-Culture : diversity and new language : Spanish

HOWEVER :
-spend a lot on improving border force due to ILLEGAL migrants
-cost of solving problems caused by migrants outweighed the benefit that they brought.

+more willing to travel long distance as less chance of facing dangerous situations

-Specilisation of labour in different countries : manufacturing in Thailand attract workers from South East Asia.
-Ease of cross border movement : easier to get visas, freedom of movement in trade blocs : EU right to work in any country with no visas, ASEAN right to work in any ASEAN country
