Geneva Law
Signed in Geneva, Switzerland the “Geneva Law” concerns the protection of Individuals under control of an enemy; reg treatment of prisoners, medical aid for the wounded, detention of civilians & *occupation of territory in one state by another state (Law of Occupation).
Law of Occupation
Sets duties & rights of occupied power in relation to occupied population (ex. Palestinian Territories)
“Jus in bello”
Latin for “Law in War.” It regulates and defines the method of pursuing war once it has begun ; aimed at regulating Armed Conflicts (AC) as part of International Humanitarian Law (IHL).
“Jus ad bellum”
Set of International legal rules that regulate the right to resort to fighting between states.
Hague Law
Regulates conduct of hostiles ; derived from a number of treaties adopted in “The Hague.”
