What are some causes of Type A hyperlactanemia?
Cardiogenic, hypovolemic, septic shock, anemia and siezures.
What are two catagories of hyperlactanemia?
Type A due to decreased tissue perfusion and Type B due to increased production with normal perfusion.
What are some causes of Type B1 hyperlactatanemia?
Type B1 causes include; neoplasia, sepsis, hepatic disease, thiamine or iron deficiency, and short bowel syndrome.
What are some causes of Type B2 hyperlactatanemia?
Drugs or toxins like epinepherine, salicylates. Bicarbonate, halothane, terbutaline.
What are some causes of Type B3 hyperlactatanemia?
Genetic disorders such as glycogen storage disease.
What anticoagulants can be used for collecting a blood sample for latctate concentration?
Lithium or sodium fluoride/potassium oxalate.
Can be at roomtemp for 4-6 hours.
What is the normal blood lactate concentraion in a mature horse?
0.7 mmol/l
