The direct impact of the Equality Act on an organisation
A
- Recruitment and selection: Language used in the advertisement can’t be directly or indirectly discriminatory (e.g. A term that favours one sex over the other)
everyone must be made aware of the position
- Training, Transfers & Progression opportunities: A business must provide training to all staff on the rights and responsibilities of the employee with regard to equality legislation
Businesses must make any reasonable adjustments to any training programme such as ramps for wheelchair users

Examples of discrimination at work that give employees the right to complain
A
- Harassment: Harassment can take the form of jokes, negative stereotyping, hostile acts or simple thoughtless comments
- Victimisation: This is where someone is treated badly because they have made/supported a complaint or grievance under the Equality Act.
