Intermediate Layer of Forearm flexors Flashcards
How many muscles?
What are they?
4 muscles:
- Flexor Digitorum superficialis
- Flexor digitorum profundus
- Flexor pollicis longus
- Pronator Quadratus
Nerves that innervate the intermediate layer:
Ulnar
Musculocutaneous
Median
Radial
What is the cubital fossa?
Triangular depression on the anterior surface of the elbow
Boundary of the cubital fossa:
Superiorly?
Medially?
Laterally?
Superiorly: Imaginary line connecting the medial and lateral epicondyles
Medially: Pronator teres
Laterally: The brachioradialis
Floor of cubital fossa?
Formed by the brachialis and the supinator muscles
Roof of cubital fossa?
Reinforced by?
- Formed by the continuity of brachial and antebrachial fascia
- Biciptal aponeurosis, subcutaneous tissue and skin
Flexor digitorum profundus (photo 4) origin
Proximal 3/4s of medial and anterior surfaces of ulnar and interosseous membrane
Flexor digitorum profundus (photo 4) insertion
Bases of distal phalanges and medial 4 digits
Flexor digitorum profundus (photo 4) innervation
Medial part: ulnar nerve
Lateral part: Median nerve
Flexor digitorum profundus (photo 4) blood supply
Anterior interosseous nerve
Flexor pollicis longus (photo 4) origin
Anterior surface of the radius and interosseous membrane
Flexor pollicis longus (photo 4) insertion
Base of distal phalanx at 1st digit
Flexor pollicis longus (photo 4) innervation and blood supply
Anterior interosseous nerve and artery
Pronator Quadratus (photo 4) origin
Distal 4th of the anterior surface of the ulna
Pronator Quadratus (photo 4) action
Pronation of forearm
