What is intelligence?
the application of cognitive skills and knowledge to learn and solve problems
as well as the ability to acquire and apply said knowledge and skills to new situations
What is IQ?
Intelligence Quotient; a score obtained from intelligence assessments.
Define metacognition
Understanding of the way a person thinks when using executive functions.
Describe the psychometric model of intelligence.
It involves obtaining scores from numerous intelligence tests, most common approach.
Describe the biological model of intelligence.
Explains and evaluates intelligence through the structure and function of the brain. Focusses on associating intelligence with brain structures.
Describe the contextual model of intelligence.
Describes the intelligence of a person based on the context and culture. Relates to what a specific society considers ‘smart’.
Deduce between nature and nurture.
Nature refers to natural variables; genetics, neuroanatomy. Nurture refers to external factors; culture, parenting;

Interpersonal refers to being aware of other people’s feelings and motives, where intrapersonal refers to understanding yourself.
Deduce between naturalist and spatial.
Spatial refers to visualising the world in 3D, where naturalist refers to being IN the world, understanding reality.
Deduce between linguistic and logical-mathematical.
Linguistic refers to finding the right words to express what you mean, where logical-maths refers to quantifying things and hypothesising things (analytical mind).
Deduce between bodily-kinesthetic and musical.
Bodily is coordinating movements to your mind, where musical is discerning sounds , pitch and tone.
Describe the information processing theory.
Focusses on intelligence as a cognitive process rather than an attribute.
Describe the Stanford Binet intelligence scale.
