ensure full assessment within the MDT include patient in decisions promote enriching activity listen to concerns of patient and carer create personalised care plan explain what all options are help them decide through options don't hurry through consultations don't be pleased if they are not complaining of anything check for physical illness watch for neglect and abuse don't reach for drugs too easily be aware of local authority protection of vulnerable adults protocol no tokenism
