The outer layer of skin cells that is constantly growing. Doesn’t contain blood vessels or nerve endings.
Epidermis
The pigment that gives the skin its color
Melanin
The thick layer of cells that contains sweat glands, oil glands, blood vessels, nerves, and hair follicles
Dermis
Gland that aids the body and getting rid of wastes, such as salts. Also helps to cool the body.
Sweat gland
A small oil producing the land that helps protect the skin.
Sebaceous gland
The oil produced by sebaceous glands
Sebum
The deepest layer of fatty tissue
Subcutaneous layer
A continuous growth that forms on the top layer of the skin.
Warts
Skin disorder in which hair follicles or pores in the skin become plugged with sebum
