Project Integration Management
Includes the processes and activities to identify, define, combine, unify, and coordinate the various processes and project management activities within the project management Process Groups (PGs).
The Project Manager’s Main Role
To perform integration management - to pull all the pieces of a project together into a cohesive whole.
Business Case
The business case captures the business need; it explains why the project was selected, how it fits into the organization’s strategic goals, and how it will bring business value to the organization. [Included in the Project Charter.]
Project Charter
A document issued by the Project initiator or sponsor that formally provides the Project Manager (PM) with the authority to apply organizational resources to project activities.
Project Charter Content
- Assigned PM
- Assumptions and constraints
- High-level project description and boundaries
- High-level requirements and risks
- Name and authority of the sponsor
- Project approval requirements (who signs off)
- Project objectives & related success criteria
- Project purpose or justification
- Stakeholder list
- Summary milestone schedule and summary budget
Statement of Work (SOW)
A narrative of products, services, or results to be delivered by the project.
