Integration Flashcards

1
Q

When do we use the chain rule for integration?
What is the third extra step we need to take over and above ‘normal’ integrating?

A

When integrating a term in a bracket to a power where the bracketed term has its own derivative.

We need to, as step 3 of integrating, divide by the derivative of the bracket too.

Q

Why do we integrate?

A

(1) Question says so.

(2) To find the area between a function and the x-axis.

(3) To find a function from it’s derivative.
