Instruments, Synthesis and Sampling Flashcards
What are the differences between .adv and .adg instruments in Ableton ?
.adg instruments come in a rack with eight macro controls to manipulate the sound, whereas .adv are single ableton instuments with preset parameters
Name the seven common elements of most synthesisers ?
Oscillator Filter Amplifier Pitch Envelope Filter Envelope Amplifier Envelope LFO
Which two oscillators in Analogue allow you to use Sync mode for the sub oscillator?
Saw and Square
Which oscillator in Analogue has the ability to perform pulse width modulation?
Square
How would you create a saw-up or saw-down LFO in analogue?
Select the triangle LFO and change the Width
What are the five types of LFO available in Analogue?
Sine, Triangle, Square, Random (square) and Random (Smooth)
In Analogue’s Global Tab what does the ‘Error’ control do ?
Adds random pitch instability to the oscilators to emulate anaogue harware characteristics
In Analogue what does the Legto button do when turned on ?
With legato on, one note wil only pitch-glide to the next if it is held down at the same time
What does Analogue’s Free envelope mode do and what type of sounds is it most useful for designing ?
It disables the release time so you can set the sustain to 0 and have an AD (Attack Decay) envelope - most useful for making percussion/Drum sounds
