To install a printer, what must you do?

A

Connect the corresponding cable to the corresponding port.
If you are installing a network printer, use a network cable, otherwise use USB, FireWire or another relevant cable.
Then you must power the device on, and install the correct drivers to your computer.

A

Print Spool Settings-Controls ability to print, pausing or cancelling jobs.
Colour Calibration-Adjust settings to match colour on screen to print job.
Paper Orientation-Select landscape or portrait layout.
You also calibrate the printer using software, making everything align correctly for jobs.

A

Firmware- This refers to items such as drivers. In order to ensure they are up to date, visit the manufacturers website and check.
Printer Memory-Most printers only have enough RAM for text jobs. For graphics jobs they may need larger amounts of RAM.

A

They may not have the required drivers installed.
They may have a different OS.
Don’t worry however, as Windows can automatically download the correct drivers to these users.

A

A

Hard Drive Caching- Cached files are a risk, because someone could access them and have access to confidential or personal information.
User Authentication- User authentication must be used in order to prevent unauthorized access to the network.
Data Privacy-Print jobs sent over a network could be intercepted and read/copied/modified.
