Diaphragm contracts and moves down to become flat.

internal intercostals contract and moves the rib cage inwards and downwards.
Abdominal muscles contract and the stomach and liver push the diaphragm back so it is domed again.

Pressure increases.
Air rushes out.

external intercostals contract and moves the rib cage upwards and outwards.
