What prompted Priestly to write about a worker protest
The Jarrow Crusade: this was the name given to a protest against unemployment in October 1930. Groups of unemployed workers marched from the town of Jarrow (near Newcastle) to London carrying a petition to British government (290 miles). The march caught widespread attention and is seen as a memnorable moment in the relation to workers’ rights.
