What are sensors and what are they used for?
Input devices that collect information automatically. Examples include:
- distance sensors - could be used to detect when a window is open or when people come close
- temperature sensors for a heating system
- light sensors - to work out how strong to make the flash on a camera
What input device would you use to create a digital image of a document?
Scanner
What is a chip and pin reader for?
Paying for things. It allows the user’s details to be read. The user can authorise the payment by entering their pin number on the pad and the machine can then use the details to contact the user’s bank to authorise a payment
Which input device might be on a school photocopier to identify which teacher needs to print something?
A card reader (each teacher would have their own card to identify them)
