a piece of hardware that sends data/information to the computer

barcode reader, keyboard, light gun, magnetic stripe reader and remote.

why does a computer need an input device?
A
it allows you to interact with the computer and add information. if the computer had no input device, it would be able to run but wouldn’t be able to change any settings or fix any problems.
