State the 3 types of Keyboard
- Standard Keyboard
- Concept Keyboard
- Numeric Keyboard
What is a Standard Keyboard?
o Most common input device; used for typing text, numbers, and commands.
o Common layout: QWERTY; also available in ergonomic designs.
o Advantages: Fast text entry, easy to use, and good for verification.
o Disadvantages: Difficult for users with limited mobility, slow compared to direct data entry, takes up desk space.
What is a Concept Keyboard?
o Uses icons or phrases instead of letters; commonly used in fast-food restaurants.
o Advantages: Fast data entry, waterproof, and tamper-resistant.
o Disadvantages: Limited functions, needs reprogramming for changes.
What is a Numeric Keyboard?
o Used for entering numbers (e.g., ATMs, POS systems).
o Advantages: Faster numeric entry, portable.
o Disadvantages: Small keys, non-intuitive layout.
What is a Mouse?
o Controls on-screen pointer; includes click and scroll functions.
o Advantages: Quick navigation, easy to use, and space-efficient.
o Disadvantages: Difficult for users with limited mobility, fragile, requires a flat surface.
What is a Touchpad?
o Found on laptops; controlled by finger movements.
o Advantages: Integrated into laptops, same functions as a mouse.
o Disadvantages: Harder to control, challenging for drag-and-drop actions.
What is a Trackerball?
o Controls pointer by rotating a ball; suitable for limited hand movement.
o Advantages: Robust, accurate, requires less space.
o Disadvantages: Not standard with computers, costly, needs training.
What is a Remote Control?
o Operates devices remotely using infrared signals.
o Advantages: Operable from a distance, useful in hazardous environments.
o Disadvantages: Signal can be blocked, difficult for limited mobility.
What are Joystick and Driving Wheel?
o Used for gaming and simulations.
o Advantages: Easier navigation, realistic control.
o Disadvantages: Difficult to control pointer accurately.
What is a Touch Screen?
o Users interact by touching the screen directly.
o Advantages: Easy and quick data entry, user-friendly.
o Disadvantages: Limited options, can get dirty, frequent use issues.
What is a Scanner?
o Converts hardcopy documents into digital format.
o Advantages: Stores images for later editing, faster than manual input.
