A
To Achieve exception or innovative performance not found in existing LEED credits

Innovation Points
A
1-4 points:
- Show Intent
- Explain Requirements (must show baseline benchmark and demonstrate quantitative improvement)
- Confirm how compliance will be demonstrated (applies to entire project, has 2+ complonents)
- Propose a Design Approach (provide documentation and calculations)
- Can also select points from other LEED rating systems
- Preapproval should be submitted to the credit interpretation request (CIR)
- Online Innovation Catalog gives examples, but not guaranteed

Pilot Points
A
1-4 points:
- Achieve one credit from the USGBC’s LEED Pilot Credit Library
- Register for the Pilot credit asap
- LEEDuser forum for questions & answers
- Document as outlined
- Specific to each rating system
- Open and close, select current list available
- Can be attempted at any stage and changed if initial credit is not accepted

Exemplary Performance
A
1-2 points:
- Earn extra credit from a LEED credit which has highlighted EP
- Document and confirm as noted in the base credit
- Usually double the credit requirements or the next incremental %
