Innominates Flashcards
Primary motions of the innominates?
- rotatioin
- pubic shear
- Flare
Where does ASIS, PSIS, and Ischial Tuberosity go with an anteriorly rotated pelvis?
- Inferior compared to the contralateral
- Supuerior
- Superior
With a posteriorly rotated pelvis where does the ASIS, PSIS, and Ischial tuberosity go?
- Superior
- Inferior
- Inferior
Posterior rotated innominate happens during what stagae of walking?
Heel strike, as the right leg swings forward the right innominate rotates posteriorly and the right heel hits the ground
During gate cycle when does an anteriorly rotated innominate occur?
- Toe off
- Weight loaded into the right foot and trunk moves forward
- The right innominate rotates anteriorly
What type of motion is usually pathologic and motion superior or inferior?
Shearing, one side of the hip will move superior
What is a pubic shear?
Only pubic tubercle moves superiorly or inferiorly, assoc. with adductor contraction
What is a flare?
pathologic motion where ASIS moves more medial or lateral compared to contralateral side
What is sacral nutation?
- Sacral flexion in which the base tips anteriorly and the inferior lateral angles tip posteriorly
- rotation around transverse axis
What is step one for diagnosing innominate SD?
- palpate for TART
- QL
- ES
- piriformis
- hamstrings
What is the lateralization ASIS compression test?
- Posterior medial compression assessing the SI joint, restriction of posterior medial motion
What is the lateralization test standing flexion test?
- Stability during flexion assessing the ability of the SI jint to stabilize itself
- PSIS will move more superiorly on the dysfunctional side carried superior by the muscles
Step 2?
Lateralization tests
Step 3?
- Palpate anterior bony landmarks
- iliac crest
- ASIS
- pubic tubercle
- medial malleolus
- Palpate posterior bony landmarks
- PSIS
Describe landmarks with an anterior rotated innominate lateralized to right?
- Lateralization right
- Iliac crest: even
- ASIS: right inferior
- PSIS: right superior
- Pubic tubercles: even
- Medial malleoli: inferior
