Innominates Flashcards
Anterior/Posterior rotation of the innominate occurs about what axis of the sacrum?
The transverse axis of the sacrum
Describe physiologic motion of the innominates:
Anterior rotation happens with extension of the hip
Posterior rotation happens with flexion of the hip
(this is simple)
Symptoms of anterior/posterior rotation?
xx
Innominate flare (lateral positional change):
ASIS medial or lateral compared to its usual position (May be thought of as rotation of an innominate along a vertical axis)
Inflaring happens with:
W/ extension of the hip, or anterior innominate rotation
Outflaring happens with:
W/ flexion of the hip, or posterior innominate rotation
What is shear?
Shear is a non-physiologic motion (the body is not meant to move that way…painful –> the ligaments cannot compensate)
Standing flexion tests give you…
Laterality with the innominates
