Injury and Rehab Flashcards
Pneumonic for planning a rehab program?
FITT Frequency Intensity Timing Type
When does tissue adaption occur?
During rest, tissue adaption occurs. If frequency of training is too much, tissues can’t adapt
What “types” of exercise are there?
Strength training
Aerobic
Stretching
Plyometric
What are the 7 “S” fitness components of a rehab program?
Health related:
Stamina
Suppleness
Strength
Task: Spirit Skill Speed Specificity
In strength rehab, what is concentric, eccentric, and isometric?
Concentric - force generating, accelerating
Eccentric - accept force, decelerating
Isometric - holds a joint, often co-contraction
What are the 3 spirit (psychological) stages of response to injury?
Injury focused - questions injury, understanding
Behavioural changes - agitated, self-pity
Acceptance - +ve, focused on rehab and return to activity
Difference between speed and power?
Speed - how quickly we can preform an action
Power - how quickly we can move a resistance
What 3 screening and testing methods are used commonly?
Gray Cook
Matrix
A&C
What do screening tests involve?
Flexibility tests, strength tests and proprioception
What does Gray Cook screening assess?
Inability and dysfunction
What does Matrix screening assess?
Movement control, stabilisers and specific flexibility
