Torn cartilage
Joint injury where small tears appear in the cartilage that acts as a cushion at the end of bones
What are examples and symptoms of torn cartilage?
Example: forceful twist, sudden impact/stopping
Symptom: pain, swelling and stiffness at the joint
Sprain and why does it happen
Joint injury where some of the fibres of the ligament are torn. It happens when the joint goes through a greater range than normal, tearing some of the fibres.
What the examples and symptoms of a sprain?
Examples: forceful twisting and over-stretching the joint.
Symptoms: pain, bruising and swelling
Golfers elbow and how can it be caused
Joint injury where tendons are inflamed. Pain is felt on the inside of the elbow.
Causes: can be caused by poor technique or overuse
Tennis elbow and what causes it
Is also a joint injury where the tendons are inflamed and pain is felt on the outside of the elbow.
It can be caused by poor technique or overuse.
Dislocation and what causes it
It is where one of the bones at a joint comes out of place .
They are often caused by a fall or blow to the area.
What types of fractures are there?
Compound, greenstick,simple or stress
Explain compound fractures
It is where the broken bone causes skin to break and means an added complication of the risk of infection.

Where the bone does not break the skin
Explain greenstick
This where bone bends on one side and breaks on the other
Explain stress fractures
Commonly caused by overuse and it is where small cracks form in the bone
