inheritance / population2 Flashcards
What does species mean
- The same organisms that can reproduce to create fertile offspring
What is a population?
-The number of same species in on area that can reproduce to produce fertile offspring
What’s a gene pool
-All of the alleles of all the genes in a population at one time
What’s allelic frequency
The number of times the allies for a specific gene occurs within a gene pool
What does the hardy Weinberg principle predict
-the Allelic frequency in a population will not change from generation to generation
What are the occasions that allelic frequency cant
change ?
-mutation in gene
-iosolated and large sample
-mating is random
-no selection
Why does a large and isolated population mean that allelic frequencies won’t change ?
-means no flow of alleles out and inside population.
