Third person variation of present simple
- verb endind in -s, -sh, -ch, -x, -z, -o
- verb ending in consonant plus y the y turn into -i
Remember of present simple
- third -s
- some adverb of frequency like sometimes and normally can go at the end or at the begin of the sentece for emphasis
Present continuos form
present of verb be plus the ing form of the main verb
Spelling variations of the present continuos
- Verb ending with a silent -e drop the e
- End in -ie, this turn into y
- One, two or more syllabe ending with vowel+ consonant that double the final consonant
- Two or more verbs ending with a non stressed vowel + L double the final l in british english not in the american
Present continuos uses
- Action that is now happening
- with always, constantly, continually or forever for habits that annoy us
- Future plans
Present continuos remember
We don’t use the present continuos with stative verbs. But we can use it when the stative verbs change meaning
Example
I see many film (talking aboutnperception)
He is seeing lisa (going out)
Present perfect simple form
we form it with the present of verb have plus the past participle of the main verb
Past perfect simple uses
- Recent events with result in the present
- Action happened at an unspecified moment in the past
- Action finished very recently
- Often with the adverbs already, just, yet, ever, never, almost, recently, before, lately, still, so far, up to row, all my life
- Actions started in the past and continue in the present (since and for)
- For ephasise the result of an action or how many times it happened
- With expressionnIt is the first time/ second time or in the question with how long
Remember of present perfect
Been or gone. Been i’m already come back and gone when i’m still there
Present perfect continuos form
We form it with the present perfect of verb be plus the ing form of the main verb
Present perfect continuos uses
- For actions started in the past and continue in the present for emphasis the duration and the process.
- For actions very short we don’t use it
- For empahsise that an action finished very recently and has present results
- Often used with for since and in the question with how long…?
Three golden rules of the present perfect continuos
We don’t use the present perfect continuos with:
- Stative verbs
- Number or quantity
- True negative (Senteces in which i say something that i didn’t do)
Gerund form
- Verb at the ing form
- Not plus the ing form
