What is the quote hook?
Exact words someone related to the idea said; they should be someone prominent/important
What is the difference between a quote and dialogue?
Dialogue is back and forth, a quote is a meaningful statement
What is the lively description hook?
Descriptive words to give the reader a clear picture of what will come later in the piece
How do you add a LD hook?
- Taking one P, P, T in your essay and describing every detail of the P, P, T
- Use your senses
- Use metaphors and similes
- Make your reader feel as if they are inside your head picturing what you’re writing
What is the teaser hook?
Tease readers into wondering what has happened or what will happen
What should you not do in your teaser hook?
Use the question “What do you think will happen next?”
What is the interesting fact hook?
Often wow the reader with new and interesting information
What should you make sure when using the interesting fact hook?
- That your fact is true
- Can be substantiated
- Has a true relevance to your writing piece
- Is truly unusual and probably not known

A short story that is related to the topic that you will be discussing in your paper
