vary in size, but are usually meant to demonstrate how particular task are to be done

are a specific kind of flow chart; the scale of words indicate their importance. their’s a hierarchy of scale showing frequency.

during a particular time period. Important to showing trends
Data maps (geographic information and numeric data)
tell a complicated story in a simple way making use of color as well.
Locator maps
show a location on a map using a simple design that lets a viewer know where something important has occured
Explanatory maps
not only reveal where a news story took place (like locator maps), but they tell how specific events took place using numerical data
TIROS/Weather Map
was the first weather map (1960). The TIROS Program (Television Infrared Observation Satellite) was
NASA’s first experimental step to determine if satellites could be
useful in the study of the Earth. And It was used until 1962.
