Manifesto
Before general election, party releases reforms, to persuade people, when in power they introduce them
E.g. Tony blair ECHR
Public opinion
With strong opinions, government listens to stay popular and ensure votes
E.g. leaving EU
Queens speech
Monarch reads out prepared speech to members of parliament outlining governments agenda
Media
Large role in bringing public opinion to government attention, also means opinion is wider spread gaining it popularity
E.g. Snowdrop campaign banning handguns
Pressure groups
groups with particular opinions that bring to attention of government and public. push government to make changes to laws with their activity, usually one issue that affects them
E.g. Stonewall repealing s.28 local government act which banned teaching LGBTQ
lobbyists
People talk to MP’s in parliament lobby, influence them to raise their issue in parliament for debate. Used by pressure groups, professionals on behalf of businesses, and general public.
E.g. lobbyists working for financial and banking with strong ties to conservatives

People in group are experts, know what theyre doing
N: Methods may be illegal or violent
Opinions can be offensive so might not get public support
Can be corruptive force on gov
Conflicting groups can cancel out
