limtiation: validity issues

A

early attachment is assesed retrospectively
- most research between early and later aren’t longitudional
- ask pts about early relationships with their parents and identify attachment from this
- suffers from reliability and difficult to tell if early or adult attachment is being assesed
- may be confounded with other factors and are therefore meaningless
