Age, gender and wealth and their influence on access to facilities for exercise, health care and good nutrition

AGE INFLUENCES ACCESS TO FACILITIES TO EXERCISE - because the older population are less mobile and may not be able to drive as a result of other health factors therefore they may not be able to access fitness facilities such as swimming pools and golf courses.

subsidise rates of costs - OAPs rate - enitice them to exercise

However older people may have more disposible income and time and therefore may have more money and time to exercise and afford memberships.

Also children are reliant on their parents to to take them to exercise facilities, clubs and school

ALSO AGE INFLUENCES THEIR ABILITY TO ACCESS HEALTHCARE - some may have to rely on transport links such as a public bus to take them to the doctors to rely as they may be unable to access it because of mobility issues consequently their health may deteriorate.
Also the older pop may not admit that they are in a state of ill health as they are ,stuck in their ways’

Younger people may also be unable to access healthcare as they must be occupied by a legal adult also their parents may not believe that their claim is legitamate

Age may affect good NUTRITION younger population may be unaware of health consequences and may demand chocolate and MacDonald’s as they are unaware that this will result in the detioration of their health

Working age may not have the time to cook healthy nutritious meals and therefore rely on takeawys and ready meals with a high saturated fat and salt content

Older pop less mobile - may not shop for everal weeks and therefore cannot get a wide range and foods and may be reliant on preserved and tinned foods such as baked beans

WEALTH - less wealthy people may suffer income deprivation they therefore will be unable to afford gym memberships and access to golf courses and swimming pools on a regular basis.

  • However wealthier people may have disposible income to afford these luxuries which will keep them healthy.
  • wealthier people may have more money to afford a wider more nutritious diet and they may be able to afford organic products.

They may also be able to afford BUPA HEALTH INSURANCE which will provide the with higher quality consistent healthcare.

People with income deprivation may not be able to afford the cost of a prescription which is not £8.05 therefore they may not want to go to the doctors in fear that they will be unable to afford it.

Branded drugs will be more costly than generic drugs which may not be available

GENDER INFLUENCES ACCESS TO EXERCISE - as women may be more health conscious and therefore mire likely to attend the gym or go for a jog than men.

HEALTHCARE - as men may be less likely to visit the general practitioner as they feel that it may impact upon their masculinity, this will therefore affect their health.

Conversely, men may be more of a hypochondriac nature and may attend the GP more often in fear that their health is deteriorating

Women may be more aware of their diet and ensure that they receive all of the necessary vitamins and nutrients in comparison to men.

Also social pressure from the media, encourages them to be more body conscious as they feelnthey have to live up to expectations
