Q

The “inflammatory response” begins with vasoconstriction followed by a brief increase in vascular permeability; the blood vessels dilate allowing plasma to escape into the injured tissue

WBCs (neutrophils, monocytes, and macrophages) migrate to the area of injury and attack and ingest the invaders (phagocytosis); this process is responsible for the signs of inflammation

Signs include redness, warmth, swelling, and pain.

Q

This specific response is the body’s attempt to protect itself, the body protects itself by activating 2 types of lymphocytes, the T- lymphocytes and -lymphocytes

Cell mediated immunity: T-lymphocytes are responsible for cellular immunity

Humoral response : the ability of the body to develop a specific antibody to a specific antigen (antigen-antibody response)
