Q

Causes of acute inflammation

A

Exogenous; outside of the body
(Radiation, chemical, thermal injury, trauma, infection)

Q

Discuss 3 components of acute inflammation

A
  1. Vascular component
Changes in internal diameter of vessels bring about VASODILATION and increased blood flow. Plasmatic zone occurs with leukocytes adhering to endothelium.
  2. Exudative component
VASCULAR PERMIABILITY occurs allowing proteins to escape
  3. Cellular component
The accumulation and activation of leukocytes at the site of injury.
