Inferential Statistic (RM P2) Flashcards
1
Q
How to tell if the test is parametric
A
- Interval/ratio data
- Conforms to a normal distribution (no skewed distribution)
- Spread of data is not significantly large (small spread)
2
Q
Carrots Should Come, Mashed With Swede, Under Roast Potatoes
A
- Chi Squared
- Sign Test
- Chi Squared
- Mann Whitney
- Wilcoxon
- Spearmans
- Unrelated T-test
- Related T-test
- Pearsons
3
Q
When to use the Sign Test
A
- Nominal (non-parametric) data
- Checking for differences in data
- Repeated measures/matched pairs experimental design
4
Q
How to do the Sign Test
A
- Take away column A from column B
- If the answer is a positive number, put + next to it, if the answer is a negative number, put a - next to it, if there is no change, that data should be ignored
- Find out which symbol there is less of
- Count how many of that symbol there are: that is your calculated value of S
- Add up how many symbols there are overall: that is your N value
- Use the table to find the critical value of S through the level of significance and whether it is a one-tailed or two-tailed test
