Antibiotic choices for tonsillitis, OM and sinusitis if these are required

A

Tonsillitis -

  • Pen V 10 day course (first line)
  • Alternatives e.g. Co-amox, clarithromycin, doxycycline

OM:

  • Amoxicillin first line
  • Clarithromycin/Erythro if pen allergic
  • 2nd line Co-amox (if not responding to amox)

Sinusitis:

  • Pen V 5d first line usually
  • Clar, Erythro, Doxy if pen allergic
  • 2nd line Co-amox (if not responding to Pen V)
