PT intervention: frequently required for people with AIDS. In the later stages of the disease manifestations of muscle weakness and atrophy, fatigue, peripheral neuropathy, coordination problems, and AIDS demetia are present.

Intervention may include:

• Exercise programs for strengthening, balance, coordination, and endurance.
• General aerobic conditioning within pt tolerance.
• Gait training and fx mobility training with use of specific assistive devices.
• Bed mobility ex’s.
• Breathing ex’s.
• Energy conservation tq’s.
• Education of care providers for transfers and ambulation assistance and exercise supervision.
