Ix and what they may show (4)
FBC- may show lymphocytosis
Monospot test
LFT - elevated ALT and AST
Antibody testing
Management for EBV
- Analagesia
- Reassurance symp usually last 2-3 weeks
- avoid contact sport and or heavy lifitng
- limit transmission
what virus causes erythema infectiosum
parvovirus B19
common in children
SS of erythema infectiosum
slapped cheek rash
erythematous maculopapular rash on the trunk, back and limbs
low grade fever
Management for erythema infectiosum
self limiting
what is herpes labialis
infection of the mouth area or lips
usually due to HSV
SS of HSV infection
asymptomatic mostly
high fever
burning and tingling prior to ulcer
usually present with painful ulcers on oral mucosa
Special test for HSV
viral culture
HSV PCR
Management for HSV
simple analgesia
topical cream available OTC
hygiene and avoid transmission
Acyclovir if severe
