Contagious
Something that spreads from one person or organism to another (typically by direct contact)
Contagion
The communication of disease from one person or organism to another by close contact
Direct contact
Transmutation of micro organisms directly from one individual to another e.g. Touching, sexual contact, coughing on someone etc
Indirect contact
Disease transmitted from person to pesos indirectly e.g. Viruses, bacteria, parasites and fungi etc
Fomite
Any object capable of carrying a disease e.g. Table, brush etc
Vector
An organism that transmits a disease or parasite from one animal to another e.g. An insect, flea or tick etc
Intermediate host
An organism that supports the immune or non-reproductive forms of a parasite
Carrier animal
An animal or plant that harbours and transmits the causative agent of an infectious disease
Symptomatic
Showing medical symptoms
Asymptomatic
Showing no medical symptoms
Closed carriers
Carries disease it showing no symptoms
Pathogen
Something that is capable of producing disease (bacteria, virus or microorganisms)
Paratenic host
A host that maintains the life cycle of a parasite but is not necessary for the development of it
Infectious
Something that has the ability to be transferred from something to something else
