Q

What is the main function of the Pilus?

A

To send the plasmid to other cells to give them resistance e.g to fight other bacteria and to fight off antibiotics or cleaning agents

Q

What is the plasmid?

A

A ring of DNA that is separate from the Nucleoid which carries genes to help bacteria become resistant e.g to antibiotics or other competing bacteria. Giving them extra defences to survive.
