Communications

A

The electric telegraph had a significant impact communication . Governments could now contact generals on campaign .

Newspapers relied on these telegraphs to inform the public about the war

In 1854 the military telegraph was started . These engineers built and operated the first field telegraph . A 24 mile network connected eight telegraph stations across the crimean battle front

By the 1850s metal production had improved . This allowed governments to equip a whole army with reliable weaponry at a small cost as the weaponry was identical and the materials used where cheap
