Sir colin Campbell using rifles held a defensive against russiaj cavalry

The soldiers were placed in 2 deep lines in red tunics. This was later called the thin red line . Their firing drove cavalry away

They later moved in attacking what was left of the russian cavalry

The use of old methods like a cavalry charge against newer technology like muskets led to a huge loss of life . The power of defence became a central characteristic of warfare

Later in battle russians captured English artillery

Lord Raglan ordered lord lucan and his men to recapture the artillery

However these commands were extremely vague and led to 673 men charging right in front of Russian cannons

113 men were killed in the charge
