Q

Circular Economy

A

The circular economy is an economic system aimed at minimizing waste and maximizing the reuse, recycling, and repurposing of resources. Unlike the traditional linear economy, which follows a ‘take-make-dispose’ model, the circular economy seeks to close the loop by keeping resources in use for as long as possible, extracting their maximum value, and regenerating natural systems.

It would not meet future demand as demand is growing continuously every year
New legislation:
Circular economy package: introduces legislation and funding
Eco-design/Digital product passport: right to repair legislation

Q

Riversimple

A

To pursue, systematically, the elimination of the environmental impact of personal transport”
Sustainability Strategy
Distributed manufacturing: minimises transport of raw materials and final product
Don’t need to transport hydrogen (trucks can only transport 1 tonne) as it would be made on the plant
People get jobs across the country
Electric/hydrogen car
Service-based model, rather than sales: vehicles have to last as long as possible
Future guardian governance”: governing board made up of three groups, one for management, one for workers and one for the environment
Selectively chosen materials
Partnerships with other sustainability-focused companies
Design for Sustainability
Lightweight through material choice
Aerodynamics
Recycled materials
Minimise usage of critical metals
