Define ‘industrial’.
The relation to industries like factories making products.
Define ‘revolution’.
The act of change in conditions, operation or attitudes, or create a new era.
Define ‘factories’.
A building or set of buildings where products / goods are manufactured.
Define ‘farming’.
“The activity or business of growing crops and / or raising livestock”.
Define ‘productivity’. What is the formula?
The efficiency with which tasks and goals are completed at an organization. P = Units of Output / Units of Input (Formula).
What is the ‘Middle Class’?
The class of people neither wealthy nor poor - in the middle of the hierarchy. Individuals have an average income, occupation, social status and education.
What is a ‘crop rotation’?
The practice of growing multiple different crops in an area, and rotating them around after a certain period of time.
Define ‘inventions’.
The act of creating something new (device or process).
Define ‘workhouses’.
A public institution that accommodated people unable to financially support themselves, within that parish (village).
What are the ‘New Poor Laws’?
A law created in 1834, requiring all poor people living in a workhouse, to work for several hours a day without receiving food, clothes and some education for children.
Define ‘urbanisation’.
The shift of population from rural areas to urban areas.
Define ‘child labour’.
“The employment of children in an industry or business, especially when illegal or considered exploitative.”
